A powerpoint that looks at both metaphors and similes. This identifies what they are and how they can be used in different ways. These are backed up with examples of metaphors and similes in use and also include activities to do with children finishing sentences are writing their own sentences that involve similes or metaphors, as well as identifying whether sentences are a simile or metaphor.

A powerpoint that can be used for teaching about commas. It focuses on commas for lists and commas for different clauses, showing examples of how they can be used as well as having tasks that children can complete to check their understanding.

112 page Powerpoint that introduces the continent of Europe to children. Within the powerpoint, Europe is split into six different zones, introducing every country in Europe. Included are the flags for every country, the capital city and currency for each country as well as two to three facts for every country in Europe. Useful for introducing Europe or countries within Europe as well as being able to create a factfile using the slides.

A comprehensive set of resources for anyone to be able to teach a block on writing discussion texts. Planned for Year 5 but very easily adaptable to Year 4 or Year 6. Included are: Full lesson plans for 12-14 lessons, with differentiated activities for children. IWB slides for every lesson that go step by step through the lesson. (N.B. In the shared writing sessions, the example paragraphs just need playing around with to a new topic. Whilst I could have done these, it is more powerful to do them with the class at the time) Resource sheets required for lessons. A quiz that is a bit of fun/end of topic assessment for evolution and inheritance in Year 6. It takes on the form of a Who Wants to be a Millionaire quiz with children competing individually, in teams or just doing it as a class as a bit of fun and a recap.

Attached are moderation grids for the interim statements (recently released 2016-2017) for Writing, Science and Maths. This includes working below and greater depth for writing and can be used as a simple tick box exercise. Whilst they include many potential tick boxes, these are in no way how many pieces of evidence you require.

An activity made for the start of the new school year. This activity acts as an ice breaker, giving children the chance to talk to one another and get to know each other more. Included are 25 statements that children have to find someone else to match to. Some statements are more common events e.g. made a snowman whilst some are more specific e.g. been to France. At the end, it can then be used as a class discussion to see who has done what and also pick out more details for certain events.

Attached is a version of a potential calculation policy that people can use for ideas to help in developing their own. Each year group is broken down in to the 4 operations, identifying mental and written methods and linking to other strands in the curriculum. Written methods are kept to a minimum to ensure children become 'experts' in that method and to ensure consistency throughout teaching.

A British History quiz that includes 20 questions about British history, including a range of topics and spanning over 1000 years. Also included is a bonus round worth up to an extra 23 points. This is useful for some end of term fun or as a general quiz to check children's general knowledge of British history and can be done individually or in teams.

A lesson design format that can be used to ensure children 'master' mathematical concepts. The aim of this resource is to consider different elements of the lesson that when put together can ensure children make good progress through the lesson/ series of lessons. The publisher version can be used to type on as a lesson plan or it can be used purely to design a lesson presentation/ resources. Key questions are included to start thinking about different elements. Whilst it isn't a definitive list, it encourages staff to consider the elements that will push children on and ensure they gain procedural fluency and conceptual understanding.
